Role: Director of Finance & Operations. Level: Senior Level (Member of the leadership team). Date: December 2022. Location: Chicago, IL. Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer.Overview: Clearbox Decisions, Inc., creators of the Cloverpop Decision Intelligence platform, is transforming enterprise decision-making by enabling enterprises to automate, collaborate, track, and learn from decisions.Role Description: Establish and lead the finance function and scale critical operations across the company including HR and strategic planning. Work closely with the executive leadership team, board of directors, and investors.Your Impact: Build the organization’s finance and operations functions. Establish processes and reporting capabilities critical to strategic planning, decision-making, and long-term vision. Shape go-to-market strategy, ways of working, and talent strategy.Responsibilities (Strategic): Advise CEO on strategy, capital deployment/conservation, and operational risk; Represent Finance, HR, and Operations in leadership deliberations; Own budgeting, financial planning, and long-range modeling; Partner on investor relations and lead board reporting; Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reporting.Responsibilities (Finance & Accounting): Direct accounting operations (GL, AR, AP, payroll, reporting); Develop policies and maintain GAAP-compliant records; Own budgeting, forecasting, and annual audits; Oversee accounting and tax policy; Oversee contract-to-invoice, AR, and AP; Handle insurance and compliance; Oversee internal and contracted personnel; Manage equity/options issuance via Carta.Responsibilities (Commercial): Participate in pricing, negotiations, and commercial decisions; Partner with Commercial and Product teams on pricing strategy; Ensure MSAs and agreements are current; Translate forecasts to account plans with Sales and Decision Success; Own and drive gross margins via COGS management; Oversee bookings and ARR policies; Manage and execute commissions; Advise on partnerships, assessing value, risks, and success likelihood.Responsibilities (HR): Oversee HR including policy, compensation, and recruiting strategy; Establish compensation strategy and pay bands; Manage headcount approvals and support hiring; Establish onboarding, performance reviews, engagement monitoring, and exit processes; Participate in personnel matters; Lead recruitment of HR lead when appropriate.Skills and Qualifications: Accounting designation and/or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or Business; 5–7+ years progressively responsible financial management experience; Start-up experience preferred; SaaS/Analytics/AI experience is a plus; Strong problem solving and recommendation development; Strong communication skills with leadership, investors, and customers; Deep understanding of the product and client value.Benefits: Competitive salary; Equity stock options; Unlimited PTO; Remote work OK; Health insurance (vision and dental) and 401K.
